If you fell asleep right after the Seattle Seahawks’ 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, then you missed one epic television cameo.

Music legend Prince guest starred on Sunday’s episode of the Fox sitcom “New Girl.” Appearing as himself, Prince helps Zooey Deschanel’s main character, Jess, sort out relationship issues, all while hosting a party and mini-concert at his mansion.

The cameo marks Prince’s first-ever appearance on a sitcom, and word is that he’s such a fan of “New Girl,” he personally requested to be on the show.

His appearance is the latest in a string of unpredictable Prince events. The eccentric star joined micro-blogging site Twitter in August 2013 to promote new music with his new band 3rd Eye Girl. In October 2013, he contacted the then 18-year-old dancer Danielle Curiel to direct his music video for “Breakfast Can Wait.”

The inexplicable icon also took to his Twitter page on Jan. 30 to announce that he was dropping the $22 million dollar lawsuit he opened two weeks earlier against individuals reportedly pirating his music. According to the lawsuit, which was brought against about 22 Facebook and Blogger users, Prince alleged the individuals participated in copyright infringement by posting almost 400 links leading to file sharing services and copies of recorded performances and pirated music.

Prince is currently working on an album titled Plectrum Electrum and is scheduled to perform at this year’s Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, La.
