The eighth annual Power of Women to Make a Difference luncheon was held last month by the United Way of New York City’s Leadership Council.

Hundreds of female leaders in various disciplines gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street for the event, according to a United Way press release.

United Way of New York City has been working to help secure resources for low-income New Yorkers for over 70 years, according to the United Way website. The Women’s Leadership Council has been in operation since 2002. The council focuses specifically on helping youth in the city and has raised more than $4 million to support United Way of New York City, according to the press release.

The luncheon honored MaryAnne Gilmartin, Deanna Mulligan and Lori Silverbush, who have all made strides in business and philanthropic efforts. It also highlighted the United Way of NYC’s educational initiatives like Read NYC and College Readiness Academy, according to their press release.
