This month, the Brooklyn Historical Society hosted the Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame ceremony. This year, musicians Herbie Mann and Bill Lee were inducted. Created by the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium, the Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame celebration also recognized Jitu K. Weusi, co-creator of the cultural center the East, with the Jazz Impact Award; the Hole, a former downtown Brooklyn jazz club, with the Jazz Shrine Award; and 15-year-old saxophonist Rodney James with the Deacon Leroy Applin Young Lion Award.
