It’s time for the second annual New York African Restaurant Week (NYARW). Event producers A Taste of Africa USA (@PanlaUSA) are bringing you more than a dozen of New York’s best Pan-African restaurants, which will be offering their continent’s best morsels from Sunday, April 27 to Sunday, May 4.
During the seven-day celebration, participating restaurants (including Harlem’s own Accra, Farafina and Lenox Sapphire) will offer prix fixe menus for lunch or dinner—$16.95 and $24.95 respectively. Diners are also eligible for a 10 percent discount off regular menu items when they mention New York African Restaurant Week at participating restaurants.
This year, NYARW, in conjunction with the good people of Edible Brooklyn (@EdibleBrooklyn) and Edible Manhattan (@EdibleManhattan), are hosting the Edible Bazaar Benefit on Tuesday, April 29, 6:30-10:30 p.m. Attendees of the benefit will enjoy foods from Barbara Food Creations, Pierre Thiam Catering, Mombassa Dishes, Farafina, Madiba and Panla Catering.
A large percentage of ticket sales will go to the Alliance of Hope for Lupus and Keep a Child Alive (@KeepAChildAlive). The spring 2014 honorees include restaurant owners, chefs and community organizers. The evening’s festivities will be hosted by Yolanda Sangweni (Essence and AfriPOP) and Namo, with musical performances by DJ Universe and SM.
