Looking for new interior decorating ideas? The 42nd annual Kips Bay Show House opened May 1, and what a show it is! Revealing the work of 22 top designers and architects, the show house will be open to the public until May 29. A wonderful outing for mom!

Kips Bay features fine furnished rooms at Manhattan’s Mansion on Madison (457 Madison Ave. near 51st Street, adjacent to New York’s Palace Hotel). The internationally recognized decorator’s show house exhibit will benefit over 11,000 youngsters in the Bronx. In the Kips Bay Show House Shop, located on the ground floor of the Mansion on Madison, visitors will be able to shop a selection of must-have curated items including antiques, fine art, home furnishings and vintage designer clothing.

This event serves as the premier fundraiser for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a renowned local youth development agency in the Bronx and flagship of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Throughout the upcoming month, an estimated 20,000 people are expected to tour the furnished rooms in support of this not-for-profit organization. In room after room, you will enjoy the marvelous design work by these acclaimed interior designer and architects.

Throughout the month of May, there are special programs scheduled at the show house, including a lecture series presented by the Montacelli Press. The Kips Bay Salon Nights will feature four distinct programs that will take place every Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. These will introduce you to a diverse line of design experts, including participating show house designers Ellie Cullman, William T. Georgis, Juan Montoya and Vicente Wolf.

Designers were assigned approximately eight weeks to transform their assigned space of the Mansion on Madison. It’s a historic Vallard Mansion that was built in 1884 by architecture firm McKim, Mead and White. For tickets and schedules, visit www.kipsbaydecoratorshowouse.org. Good Show!
