One of the many beauties of Harlem is the hidden – and not so hidden – places to eat for less! In no particular order, here are 3 must-go-to spots in Harlem.

Charlie’s Place

A Japanese Restaurant that serves generous portions made fresh in front of its customers. The specialty here is the Korean Citron Tea. It is specifically made for people who feel tired, sick, as well as those with rough, stressed skin (basically the average New Yorker.) The tea is served super hot so we recommend giving it a minute before you take a sip. The restaurant is rarely crowded and by the time you finish your meal you’ll feel as if Charlie’s Place is your place too.

Price: Korean Citron Tea (small $2)

Harlem Shake

 (77295)

Harlem Shake is more than a catchy dance craze. It’s a retro chic burger shake spot. Not only that, it also caters to the health conscious. The prices are comfortable for my college student wallet and the vegan options are a plus. Who says you need to be rich to eat healthy? Swing by for a quick bite.

Specials Range from: $8 – $10

  1. Pee Dee’s Steak House
 (77298)

This one is so good I had to put it on the list. There’s a Pee Dee’s around 110th but I went to the one on 125th (between Madison and 5th ave). They serve huge delicious steaks and whole chicken at $11. The BBQ sauce is sweet and spicy, it also comes with unique garlic bread that’s made with hot dog buns and a special in house garlic butter, plus your choice of coleslaw or salad. With a cafeteria style setting, you see the meat and potatoes of it all… literally.

Price: BBQ Chicken Special $11
