Actress and singer Zendaya Coleman has been chosen to play Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.”

The movie will be based off of former TIME magazine critic Christopher Farley’s book “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.” The film will focus on both Aaliyah’s life and her early death.

R and B singer Aaliyah was at the height of her career singing chart-topping hits like “Are You That Somebody” and “More Than a Woman.” She also showed her acting skills by starring in the movies “Romeo Must Die” and “Queen of the Damned.” Her life was cut short in 2001 when she died in a plane crash in the Bahamas. She was 22.

Coleman is most famous for her role in the Disney show “Shake it Up” and is now making her way into the music business. Her 2013 single “Replay” was certified platinum in America. The 17-year old star also placed second on “Dancing With the Stars” that same year.
