Approximately 80 sought-after positions as ballpersons for the 2014 U.S. Open are up for grabs, with approximately 400 people competing for spots. Prospective ballpersons will be evaluated by U.S. Open officials on their running, throwing and catching skills.

Teenagers 14 and older are invited to try out for the coolest summer job in sports on Thursday, June 19. Participants can register on-site at the National Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m. The evaluation process will begin at approximately 4 p.m. after a welcome by U.S. Open Ballperson Director Tina Taps and a veteran ballperson demonstration. Tryouts will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

U.S. Open ballpersons are paid an hourly wage. The 2014 U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Aug. 22. The 2014 U.S. Open main draw will be held Monday, Aug. 25, through Monday, Sept. 8.
