Celebrations for Juneteeth are being held across the city, commemorating the official end of slavery in America. A celebration is being held today at Restoration Plaza, located at 1368 Fulton St. in Brooklyn, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be an African Marketplace, performances, awards ceremony and health fair.

The Juneteenth Committee of Masjid Malcolm Shabazz and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center New York Support Group hosted the 21th annual Juneteenth KingFest Celebration Parade and Street Fair last weekend in Harlem. A celebration was also held in Gershwin Park and Linden Park in Brooklyn, hosted by Umoja Events. The Juneteenth holiday is on Thursday, June 19.
