Parent, writer and education researcher Andrea M. Nelson-Royes is passionate about her work promoting literacy and education worldwide.
“I’m passionate about education because sometimes you have to have that individual that becomes the voice for the children,” stated Nelson-Royes.
Nelson-Royes, who resides in Atlanta, Ga., has been advocating for education as someone who grew up in the school system. She is aware of the struggles that children face on an everyday basis.
Her books, “Transforming Early Learners into Superb Readers” and “Success in School and Career: Common Core Standards in Language Arts K-5,” support educators, parents and school and district administrators with the proper tools needed in aiding their children in becoming proficient readers and to help ensure a successful future.
“Everything starts from home,” stated Nelson-Royes. “We as parents first teach our children, and we have to help them in order for them to become stronger. Working along with the schools and the teachers, we can help them develop.
“Children on the younger side need to start getting used to sight words, colors and as many words as possible, so when they do enter into the school system, there is a good chance that they are ready to learn, especially to read.”
Nelson-Royes’ third book will be out next spring and will promote the benefits of tutoring for children who need it.
