Brooklyn Council Member Jumaane Williams is hosting the third annual Girls Like Us Survive: Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness Month Kickoff on Sunday, October 12 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at CoCo Mane on 1185 Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn.

Designed as a way to increase the public consciousness surrounding current issues affecting young women of color, the event features panels and discussions from Face My Abuse founder, Jacqueline Rowe, Breast cancer non-profit, The Maurer Foundation as well as cooking demonstrations from nutritionist Jacqueline Carr-Peck of Fitness for Flatbush.

The event will be co-hosted by philanthropist and OWN Network star, Tiffany Jones, New York State Senator Kevin S. Parker and District Leader Rodneyse Bichotte. Guests will be treated to free refreshments, musical entertainments and more. All members of the community are greatly encouraged to attend.
