In collaboration with the Broadway Mall Association and New York City Parks Department, this collection showcases sculptures of contemporary American artists. This extension runs from 166th Street to Columbus Circle on Broadway with ten stops along the way.

The closest of these is at CCNY’s subway stop along the 1 line, 137th Street. Here, Dan Colen exhibits nine of his colorful pieces at the foot of P.S 192 in Montefiore Square. Aside from the skateboard ramps taking over in size, the colorful boulders are what really draw viewers in. At first glance they are simply rocks covered with acrylic paint, but taking a closer look they seem more familiar. Colen painted these boulders green, yellow, orange, and blue to mimic and alter the dimensions of M&M candies.

“It’s pretty awesome when we have these simple, yet fun exhibitions around school,” said Taylor Foerster, an art education major. “Last year we had the sheep, which was entertaining too. It’s a great way for the public to immerse themselves in art, especially if they are doing so unconsciously.”

Some of the other artists displayed in this showcase are Sarah Braman, Matt Johnson, Joanna Malinowska, and Devin Troy Strother. The exhibition will run until February first. Follow Broadway Morey Boogie’s Instagram here.
