Brooklyn-based company STATE Bags will gift all the children in P.S. 208 in West Harlem, Friday, Nov. 21.

STATE Bags was formed by Scot and Jacqueline Tatelman after they saw many children carrying their school items in trash bags. Reportedly, P.S. 208 is one of the New York City public schools where the students are in much need of supplies and support. This school serves students from the third to fifth grades. The company will also hold a motivational rally that will, hopefully, inspire the children.

STATE Bags wants to send the message that the children will become successful in life, no matter what type of background they come from.

One month after the launch of STATE Bags, Jay Z’s website, Life and Times, reached out to the Tatelmans and asked if they would like to be featured. Queen Bey’s camp reached out to the Tatelmans as well. STATE Bags now has a collaboration with Beyonce’s campaign, #BeyGOOD. As they go through their GiveBackPack initiative, a team of “PackMen” and “PackWomen” lead motivational rallies that give children a renewed and healthier spirit and belief in themselves. All PackMen and PackWomen are experienced child development specialists.

The Tatelmans say that their mission is to “also provide kids living in challenging neighborhoods with the tools to reach their fullest potential and better their communities.”
