Sylvia Alston held her 81st birthday celebration at her Sugar Hill Belvedere apartment in Harlem with guests from all over New York City, who came to wish all the joy and happiness on her special celebration. Rep. Charles Rangel gave Alston a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for her unwavering dedication and service to the people of the Harlem community.
One of the many evening entertainers was the “Prince of Harlem,” Lonny Youngblood. Melba Joyce, Unice Newkirk, Gia Williams, JaRon Ames, George Brown, Solomon Hicks and Sarah McLawer all serenaded the house full of guests with many wonderful songs and ballads.
Among the many guests were Malazz Shabazz, Ruth Clark, Maxine McCrey, Jackie Rowe Adams, J.E. Franklin, Yvonne Dubose, Wilma Jordan, Judge Tanya Kennedy, Judge Robert Reid, Apollo Billie Mitchell, Don Thomas, Mike Henry Adams, Coreen Simpson, Jean Dixon West, Docsides Davis, Luther Gales, Mike Sanders, Kenneth Williams, Leslie Wyche, Elysee Goldstein, Tajah Mardock, Rayne Dorsey, Loretta Abbott, Lloyd Williams and Shirley Scott.
