The actor and his 7-year-old daughter, Shayla, joined hundreds of protestors as they marched down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles to protest the killing of African-American men by police. Called “Blackout Hollywood,” the march featured Tyrese and fellow activists chanting, “Black lives matter,” and “Hands up, don’t shoot,” as they peacefully marched with their hands up. They also staged a die-in at an intersection, with everybody lying on the ground for four hours and 30 minutes to pay tribute to the exact amount of time that Brown lay dead in the street after he was killed by now-former police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo.
