Dozens of elected officials, community leaders and activists came out to pay respects to the late Helen Perkins, mother of state Sen. Bill Perkins. The viewing was held Friday, Feb. 27 at Harlem’s First Bethel AME Church, as was the funeral. After a moving service, she was interred at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park Cemetery on Staten Island.
