The Center for Black Literature and Medgar Evers College is honoring and paying tribute to the work of actor Danny Glover during the 2015 National Black Writers Conference Biennial Symposium. Glover will be on hand to give the keynote address and engage in a question and answer session March 28 at the college, located in Brooklyn.
The focus of this year’s National Black Writers Conference Biennial and Symposium is activism, liberation and resistance in the arts, with a special focus on film and literature. The one-day conference will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MEC. The program includes a screening of the film “The Black Power Mixtape,” panel discussions and a performance by Heroes Are Gang Leaders.
A general donation of $10 is being asked for admission. For students, seniors and faculty, a donation of $5 is being asked. Admission for MEC and CUNY students is free with ID. Go to www.centerforblackliterature.org for more information.
