With just over one month to go until the first ever Harlem EatUp! Festival (@HarlemEatUp), founding sponsor Citi and organizers staged a commemorative photo shoot featuring Harlem chefs and restaurateurs, along with more than 20 of the festival’s celebrity chefs. Styled to pay homage to the iconic 1958 photo “A Great Day in Harlem,” which featured the world’s top jazz musicians, participants gathered on brownstone stoops in Harlem on a sunny, cloudless, crisp day.

Among many others, pictured were Harlem pioneers Charles Gabriel (Charles’ Country Pan Fried Chicken), Melba Wilson (Melba’s), Tren’ness Woods-Black (Sylvia’s), Dino Gatto and Frank Pellegrino (Rao’s) and Antonino Settepani (Settepani), along with the spectrum of owners and chefs of new eateries Anahi Angelone (Corner Social), Serena Bass (Lido Restaurant), Joseph Hayes III (the 5 and Diamond), Gustavo Lopez (Vinateria), Jelena Pasic (Harlem Shake), Aric Sassi (the GrangeBar & Eatery), Alexander Smalls (the Cecil) and Leticia Skai Young (LoLo’s Seafood Shack).

Festival creator Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster) welcomed celebrity guest chefs Daniel Boulud (DANIEL), Scott Conant (Scarpetta), Marc Murphy (Landmarc), Aaron Sanchez (Paloma), Angelo Sosa (Anejo), Jacques Torres (Jacques Torres), Jonathan Waxman (Barbuto) and Marvin Woods (Atlanta’s Asante Restaurant and Bar), among others.
