First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver the commencement address at Tuskegee University’s 130th Spring Commencement Ceremony.

Obama will address approximately 500 graduates as well as their friends, family and members of the university community on Saturday, May 9 in the Gen. Daniel “Chappie” James Arena.

The appearance marks the second time a first lady has visited the university. Eleanor Roosevelt visited Tuskegee Institute (now university) and took her historic flight with Tuskegee Airman Charles A. Anderson on March 29, 1941.

Tuskegee University’s commencement ceremony is a ticketed event reserved for graduates, their families and guests and is not open to the public.

A live stream webcast of the ceremony will be available at www.tuskegee.edu/live.
