Three New York leaders of the police anti-brutality movement are participating in the Million Moms March to the U.S. Justice Department in Washington Mother’s Day weekend.

Juanita Young of Mothers Cry for Justice, Iris Baez of the Anthony Baez Foundation and Nicholas Heyward Sr. of the Nicholas Naquan Heyward Jr. Foundation will join march founder Maria Hamilton of Mothers for Justice United to initiate a lobbying campaign on Capitol Hill to demand justice for the victims.

The trio will march with mothers, other family members and supporters of people killed by law enforcement officers and racist vigilantes throughout America. The families are demanding the victims’ cases be reopened and reviewed for civil rights violations.

Mothers Cry for Justice, the New York City sponsor of the march, is holding a forum Thursday, April 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss why they are going to the march and the need to demand justice for those who have lost their lives at the hands of the police.

The forum is being hosted by Cornelius Ricks, producer of the “Behind the Bench MMXV” cable television program, and will take place at the Harlem Branch Library located at 9 W. 124th St., third Floor.

Sponsor mothers may make donations online on a page entitled “Sponsor Mothers to March 4 Justice” at www.gofundme.com/motherscry. Each contributor will be acknowledged in a commemorative journal documenting the march.
