The New York Metro Alumni Chapter of Alabama State University recently celebrated celebrated its 50th anniversary with a luncheon at Antun’s in Queens.

The alumni chapter of the historically Black university honored several people, including the Rev. Dr. Naomi Tyler-Lloyd of the Trinity Baptist Church; Queens Hospital social worker supervisor Deborah D. Brayton; the Rev. Dr. Kelvin Redmond of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Rockville Centre; and Queens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta President Moria Jack.

The event also honored charter members Sarah B. Thornhill, who serves as current president of the ASU alumni chapter, and George H. Andrews, who founded the chapter in 1965.
