Sankofa Community Empowerment, Inc. is in the middle of their “Black Lives Matter” five-part series. The second part of the series will take place Thursday, June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Peace Health Center, located at 582 Halsey Ave. in Brooklyn, NY.
Last month’s Sankofa Circle dealt with the broad issues of Black resistance and responsibility. This Thursday’s session will build on that message and provide participants an opportunity to reflect on the horrific massacre in Charleston, S.C.
The discussion will explore various aspects of the tragedy, including the double standard of terrorism in America, the Confederate flag, liberation theology and the Black church’s response and its perspective on “forgiveness.”
Sankofa Discussion Circles are for all who identify as African-descendent people. Refreshments will be served. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
