As soon as Luli Fama debuted their first swim collection back in 2003, the design team, consisting of Luli Hanimian and brother-in-law Augusto Hanimian, the brand became a strong innovator in the fashion industry. They both grew up on the beaches of Miami and developed a keen interest in swimwear. They work well together as the creative forces behind the Luli Fama brand.

Their swimwear is geared toward a younger clientele. Luli Fama is known for its universal fit and flattering and immaculate designs. The company’s look incorporates an eclectic mix of vibrant hues and bold prints. There are festive floral patterns in one-piece and bikini suits. In details, there were some artfully placed embellishments, such as faceted glass beads and gold hardware in the form of seashells and starfish, that created a perfect balance on streamlined silhouettes.

Luli Fama’s assortment of exclusive pieces included many monokinis, bikinis, cleverly designed cover-ups and pretty full-length dresses. These cover-ups were amazing in caftans, tunics, rompers and dresses that complemented the collection’s assortment of swimwear. Everything is made in light fabrics with exceptional details that accentuate a woman’s figure.

There were some exciting glimpses of the action backstage before the show. It was very hectic as usual, with models having their hair and makeup done.

“Every collection requires and reflects a new thought and design concept,” said Luli Hanimian. For this show, Luli and Augusto Hanimian were inspired by a variety of factors, including Luli Hanimian’s Cuban descent and Miami upbringing. The cosmopolitan culture and Latin influences in Luli Fama are apparent in their contemporary shapes, intense colors and fusion of innocence and seductiveness.

The team was also inspired by the engaging rhythms of the Caribbean and the electric nightlife of South Beach. Each collection fuses vivid color palettes and prints. Additional influences include the blues and greens of the ocean, the glimmering gold of the night stars and exotic local lush surroundings. In this section of the show, eye-catching prints ranged from floral, aquatic, paisley and tribal prints to mosaic, tie-dye and a vintage map of the Caribbean. The brand continues to attract celebrities such as Beyonce Knowles Carter, Jennifer Anniston and Kate Hudson.

In fashion design, originality is the fundamental component. Luli Fama understands the importance of a target customer and abided by her personal philosophy. “You can’t be everything to everybody,” she explains. “You have to have a niche and stay true to your customer by providing a look in the highest quality possible.” All of their garments offer effortless transition from beach to boardwalk, day to night, with comfort and ease.
