One of artist James Elcock's works. (151014)

Five years ago, James Elcock was injured in a terrible accident and ruptured his spine. After undergoing a series of operations, he was told he would never walk again. However, doctors weren’t aware of Elcock’s will, determination and unflagging faith.

Today, Elcock is not only back on his feet, but also during his recovery and rehabilitation, he was able to devote more time to his art. Some of that work, under the rubric of “Art by Salbello: In the Spirit I Paint,” will be on display Friday, July 17 at the Mural Pavilion at Harlem Hospital Center on Malcolm X Boulevard.

“I am honored to be hosting this private reception for my friend, my brother James Elcock,” said Adrianne Smith, a local impresario and hostess of “Southern Chefs.” “His work is truly inspirational.”
