The taste of the Islands will return to Roy Wilkins Parks in Queens, when the fifth annual Jamaican Jerk Festival New York showcases Caribbean food and culture July 19, noon to 8 p.m.

Carson “Eddy” Edwards, co-founder of the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival USA, told the Amsterdam News, “Every year, thousands and thousands of people come out to enjoy the food, the music, the culture. We have something for everybody.”

The festival will feature jerk-flavored delectables from New York’s top Caribbean restaurants. The event will also feature the Jerk Cook-off and Celebrity Quick Fire Challenge competitions, in which cooks such as Miss Universe Jamaica Kaci Fennell will showcase their culinary talents. Cash prizes and the coveted Dutch Pot Trophy are at stake. Attendees will be given samples of the festival’s jerk offerings as well.

Music will also be featured at the festival. The Fab 5 Band, Romain Virgo and King Jammys are some of the popular artists set to take the main stage.
