Kings County Hospital Center and Harvest Home Farmers Market hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for its new farmers market, which officially opened July 8.
The market is tied in with KCHC’s Wellness Wednesdays initiative to promote good nutrition, exercise and health education for employees, patients and the community. The farmers market offers locally grown, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to Brooklyn residents and hospital employees at reasonable prices.
Harvest Home has served low-income communities for years, and this is the first Farmers Market for Kings County Hospital Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremony included various activities, such as health screenings, nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and food samplings/tastings.
The farmers market will operate every Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Nov. 25 and is located at Kings County Hospital Center on Clarkson Avenue between East 37th and East 38th streets in Brooklyn.
