St. Louis County, MO (KMOV) — The St. Louis County NAACP will host a commemoration event to mark the one year since the death of Michael Brown Jr. in Ferguson.

At the Ferguson First Friday Brunch, event organizers say city leaders and law enforcement will discuss progress made in the community since last August.

“It’s a day to remember what we have done and how far we’ve come and how far yet we have to go,” said Esther Haywood, president of the St. Louis County NAACP.

The event is open to the public and will be held at St. Louis Community College Florissant-Valley from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
