The court-appointed conservator for the late Bobbi Kristina Brown initially filed suit on her behalf against one-time companion Nick Gordon in June, alleging financial impropriety and physical harm. An amendment to the suit claims that Gordon’s violent attack on Brown and associated reckless and toxic cocktail caused her to sustain a profound brain injury, which ultimately caused her death. He has not been charged criminally.

Universal Pictures went the extra 100 miles and more for its Aug. 10 premier of “Straight Outta Compton,” bringing all four surviving members of NWA, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella, onstage in front of a packed crowd at L.A. Live’s 7,100 -seat Microsoft Theatre. Afterward, the post-party drew music luminaries Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, Berry Gordy, the Game, Russell Simmons and Common.

The 22nd Little Miss African America Scholarship Pageant will be hosted by boxing champion and TV host Laila Ali at HOME in Beverly Hills, Calif., Aug. 16. Celebrity judges include actor James Pickens, “The Real” host Loni Love, Shanice Wilson, actress Ella Joyce, Ron Brewington, May May Ali and director-actress Sandra McClain, who joins pageant producer and choreographer Lisa Ruffin and other successful invited guests from various professions to support and inspire these lovely young girls. Little Miss African America is first and foremost an educational program cleverly disguised in a pageant format, whose mission is “dedicated to the intellectual success of young African-American girls.”

New Edition is getting a BET biopic. Five of the group’s members, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant, will reunite for the three-night miniseries premiering in 2016. All five will co-produce the untitled project. New Edition founding member Bobby Brown was not mentioned in the release announcing the project. The group broke up then reunited several times since its inception in 1978. Brown left their tour early when the six members reunited last year.

It looks like viewers will see some familiar faces on the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Both former stars Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield were spotted filming the reality show at the launch of fellow cast member Cynthia Bailey’s eyewear line.
