The NAACP New Jersey State Conference is its annual state convention Oct. 9 through 11 in Princeton, N.J., at the Westin Hotel.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating History: The Oldest Civil Rights Organization Reconnects With the Oldest African-American Church.” This year’s national theme is “Pursuing Liberty in the Face of Injustice.”

The convention will host a gospel extravaganza, featuring performances by William Murphy and the soul inspiring Bubby Fann and Praise Beyond. The AME Church is being honored, with a keynote address given by Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram. A luncheon will pay tribute to New Jersey elected state officials.

The event will include workshops, a health fair and a gala awards dinner commemorating the “50th anniversary of the voting right with remarks from Amelia Boynton Robinson.”
