This annual celebration focuses on African entertainers in the North American entertainment industry. This year’s NEA was the 10th ceremony. Ice Prince, a Nigerian hip-hop artist, and Osas Ajibade, founder of Joyful Joy Foundation, an actress and Miss Black USA in 2010, hosted the award ceremony Sunday, Sept. 6. Not only did the award ceremony celebrate and honor well-known entertainers, but also it shed light on upcoming entertainers.

A few upcoming artists such as Bils and Niniola left the audience dancing and excited. Many attendees agreed that they were one of the best acts all night. Prominent entertainers, such as DJ Cuppy, Ice Prince, Praiz, Yemi Alade and MC Galaxy, attended the award show.

The well-healed crowd—some in traditional Nigerian dress, others in European designer threads—shone and participated in the show as the artists thrilled and entertained.

Martin Fayomi, president and CEO of the NEA, said, “As the president of Nigerian Entertainment Awards, I have the honor of serving with the assistance of a fine leadership team and several dedicated team members. Our primary mission, however, is simply to create a platform for our talented acts within the biggest economy of the world. Our primary thrust this year will be furthering this mission and put together a great show for you. Thank you as always with support of what we do.”
