Social media is buzzing with mixed reaction over Ebony Magazine’s cover featuring the cast of “The Cosby Show.”

The November issue of the Black lifestyle magazine features the famed Black television family under a shattered glass frame with a headline reading “Family Issue(s)” and “Cosby vs. Cliff.” The story inside is about how “The Cosby Show” has been affected by Bill Cosby’s negative attention.

Cosby has been in the spotlight over recent news that he allegedly drugged several women and sexually assaulted them. While Hollywood has distance itself from the comedian, many in the Black community continue to support him.

Amid the controversy, “The Cosby Show” has also taken a hit. Networks have stopped airing reruns of the groundbreaking series that ran in the 80s through the early 90s. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Cosby’s son “Theo” on the show, recently said the legacy of the show was “tarnished.”

Online reaction to the Ebony cover has ranged from anger to praise.

“I still love The Cosby Show. Whatever he did or didn’t do, doesn’t take away from what the show put out there for years,” one woman said on Facebook.

“He’s an actor we fell in love with the character and I don’t think it’s fair to the other cast members,” another woman commented.

“Not cool Ebony,” one man said. “Respect this man’s show,” one man said.
