After spending time in South Carolina, famed baker Raven “Cakeman” Dennis is coming back uptown.
Best known for his Southern red velvet cake, Dennis is opening his new flagship store in Harlem. He began his business in his studio apartment in Harlem on Riverside Drive before opening a full-service bakery in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, in 2000 on Fulton Street, which closed in 2012.
In 2011, Dennis broke the Guinness World Record by baking the world’s largest sculpted cake. Many of his celebrity clients have included Sean “Diddy” Combs, Alicia Keys, Lena Horne, Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige.
Celebrating his return to Harlem, Dennis is hosting a gala marking his 34th anniversary as a baker and the official announcement of his new location. The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 22 from 6 p.m. to 10.p.m. at the Percy E. Sutton Educational Complex, located at 6 Edgecombe Ave.
Dennis will announce the opening date and location of his new store at the event.
