Celebrating educational, cultural and entrepreneurial excellence was the 5th annual Africa Diaspora Awards, organized by Applause Africa, at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in Manhattan. The program was a great display of brilliance from the African diaspora, a beautiful recognition of selfless achievement honoring people who help others and share their success.

Community Service: Atti Worku, founder, Seeds of Africa—Ethiopia
Creative Artist: Nicole Amarteifio, creator, “An African City”—Ghana
Humanitarian: Kennedy Odede, founder and CEO, Shining Hope for Communities—Kenya
Friend of Africa: Laurie A. Cumbo, New York City Council member—United States
Fashion Designer: Alhassan Toure, Alhassan Toure Designs—Mali
Organizational Impact: Young African MBA’s—Pan-African
Excellence in Service: Dr. Oluyemi Badero, cardiologist—Nigeria
