The family of late civil rights leader Malcolm X have increased the icon’s presence online with Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as an online store.
Users are encouraged to follow @MalcolmXShabazz on Facebook and Twitter and log on to the official online merchandising store, www.shopMalcomX.com.
The online store currently has apparel that includes T-shirts, hats and jackets. The family said they will be adding more items of merchandise going forward, including posters, calendars, cups, artwork and literature.
“For over 50 years, millions of street vendors and others have used the image of Malcolm X with no benefit to his family,” said L. Londell McMillan, the family’s attorney. “This will now change, and people worldwide may support the family and get quality Malcolm X-inspired merchandise.”
