Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka recently posed with organizers of the first ever Newark International Film Festival, which will take place over three days in September 2016.

Pictured (L to R) are: Tehsuan Glover, co-founder of the Newark International Film Festival and founder of the Newark Times; Jeff Friday, founder of the American Black Film Festival; Baraka; and Kenneth Gifford, co-founder of the Newark International Film Festival and president of Newark Office of Film and Television.

The Newark International Film Festival will showcase the breadth of the film industry, including screenings, stunt exhibitions, TV andfilm auditions, a variety of film workshops, guest celebrities of TV and film and will feature the presentation of the Hannibal Goodwin Award for Innovation in Filmmaking—named for the Episcopal priest who came up with a method for making transparent, flexible film in 1887 in Newark—to a highly regarded filmmaker.
