Ilyasah Al-Shabazz, daughter of Civil Rights icon Malcolm X, is speaking at the historically-Black Tuskegee University in Alabama on Tuesday, Feb. 2 as part of an ongoing Lyceum Series the institution is presenting.

Al-Shabazz serves on the Board of the Harlem Symphony Orchestra, is a member of the Arts Committee for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center, and a project advisor for the PBS award-winning documentary, “Prince Among Slaves.”

She promotes higher education, interfaith dialogue, and building bridges between cultures for young leaders of the world. She produces The WAKE-UP Tour™, an exclusive youth empowerment program, and participates on international humanitarian delegations. Al-Shabazz is the founder of Malcolm X Enterprises and is a Trustee for The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center.

The Tuskegee University Lyceum Series is part of the Student Engagement Initiatives program, which is among the institution’s priorities on Tuskegee University’s vision document. The mission of the Lyceum Series is to engage and enlighten students, faculty, staff, and the greater Tuskegee community.
