Let’s face it, for many of us, Black History Month is 365 days a year. In keeping that fact firmly in place this Feb., the world famous Apollo Theater will host a series of artistic and community programs in celebration of Black History Month with free weekend activities Feb. 6 and 7.

One of the best brand ambassadors for the Black experience is the Apollo. The name alone means quality and they have been a model of innovation and excellence, helping to make Harlem a must-see destination for visitors to the city of New York.

The 2016 Black History Month programming includes the return of the theater’s signature talent competition, “Amateur Night,” which begins its season with special guest artist Grammy Award-winning R&B soul singer Chrisette Michele and a host of new contestants.

The annual Apollo Open House Weekend is free and open to the public and free is a great price. This year’s Open House will explore the arts and its role in activism, as well as the Apollo’s relationship with artist activists.
