The New York African Chorus Ensemble announced that it will present “The Gathering X: Part 2,” an evening of performances showcasing world cultures in a beautiful way. In the lyrics, music and ritualized motion of folk tradition that will be presented, the audience will see reflections of a people’s history, spirituality and worldview. It is a celebration of diverse cultural expressions and an honoring of the spirit behind these cultures of origin. The featured performing artists include Ms. Emme Kemp (Broadway veteran), Tami Tyree (Echoes of Our Ancestors), Mangue Sylla and the All Star Drummers of Guinea, Greek American Folklore Society, JAAMBO (an Afro-Latin jazz band) and the New York African Chorus Ensemble.
Receiving the prestigious Joshua Uzoigwe African Spirit Leadership Award are Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and Council Members Inez Dickens and Mark Levine. Receiving the Joshua Uzoigwe African Spirit Award for Community Service are Athena Moore, Imani Scott, Tami Tyree and Josanna Frazier.
