Rev. Al Sharpton is moving forward with urging people to not watch the Academy Awards set for Sunday in Los Angeles with several rallies across the nation.
The demonstrations are in response to the failure of the Academy Awards to recognize actors of color in the leading categories for the second straight year.
Sharpton will preach at Second Baptist Church and First AME Church in Los Angeles on Sunday and then lead a rally and demonstration near Dolby Theater where the ceremony is being held.
Similar rallies with National Action Network members across the country with the effort to diversify the film industry. The New York rally will take place in front of WABC-TV studios at 7 Lincoln Square starting at 5 p.m. Other rallies are taking place in Washington, D.C., Cleveland, Atlanta and Detroit.
