Girls turn into women who go through stages with or without guidance. Wisdom is a knowledge that comes from God and you cannot Google such valuable advice from your elders and get to sit at their feet and hear what they have to say. Social networks have become detrimental to our health and have taken valuable intimate time away from all of our families. The objective of Women of Wisdom is to get real face time back with our elders. Saturday March 12, 2016, in the Community Center at MeadowWood at Gateway, a rap session took place to address anonymous questions. Women 60 and older were selected by the founder and coordinator Kimberly Thomas to sit on the panel and give answers to questions from young women who needed a solution to burdens they could not bear any more. These women have fought through severe medical turmoil, domestic abuse, losing children to street violence and so much more. Faith in God has made them survivors and examples of what can become of you if you just make God your choice and your only choice.
WOW would like to have more rap sessions in the future with young women, women in crisis, at-risk youth and others. Many women are busy raising children, working and taking care of elderly parents, finding very little time to discuss matters that concern them. These Godly rap sessions are a safe haven and are informative, resourceful and honest. It’s important to know who you’re getting your advice from. When an individual has strength despite what she has been through and she is still standing with the love to counsel me, that’s who can advise me.
