The Community Council for Medgar Evers 2016 annual Spring Luncheon for Scholarship and Leadership was held at the Medgar Evers College Science Building Atrium Cafeteria. The council serves as an advisory body to the president and college through community support, fundraising and forums. The council started in 1980, and it has provided more than $250,000 in scholarships. The council is headed by community activist Katie Davis and other committed community members. The council helps provide assistance for the 7000-member student body, who are primarily the first members of their families to attend college. The college is located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and was established 1970. The council held a special tribute for Agnes M. Abraham, a dedicated alum who helps to keep the college in the forefront.
