Free air conditioners are available to Brooklyn residents with medical conditions.
The Crown Heights Jewish Community Cooling Program is offering free air conditioners for low-income disabled, elderly and sick residents with medical conditions that put them at risk during the hot weather.
Units are available on a first-come first-served basis and will be installed at no charge. To apply you must bring a doctor’s letter stating there is a medical need for an air condition.
Applicants must also submit proof of income for one month or a current receipt of HEAP, PA, SSI or SNAP, a valid ID, proof of address and a social security card. Applicants cannot already own an air conditioner or have received one through the program in the past five years.
Call Bella at Crown Heights JCC at 718-771-9000 ext. 7701 for more information and an application package.
