Afrika Bambaataa (200130)

Reports indicate that Zulu Nation issued an apology this week via the media to victims of its founder, Afrika Bambaataa.

“We extend our deepest and most sincere apologies to the many people who have been hurt by the actions of Afrika Bambaataa and the subsequent poor response of our organization to allegations leveled against him,” the international hip-hop organization said in a signed statement.

The statement also offered help for victims of Bambaataa and is advocating about the impact of sexual abuse.

Controversy started in April when Bronx political activist Ronald Savage accused Bambaataa of molesting him in 1980 when he was 15. Since then, three more men have come forward accusing Bambaataa of sexually abusing them. Bambaataa was removed as leader of Zulu Nation last month. He has denied the allegations.
