People, like myself, who enjoy listening to Afrobeat and Afropop artists are excited about the upcoming concert, One Africa Music Festival, Friday, July 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This concert is presented by Upfront & Personal. The show includes popular music stars such as Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Iyanya, Stonebwoy, Flavour and Diamond Platnumz, with host Banky W.

Upfront & Personal is a global institution that gives Nigerians an opportunity to work in media and entertainment, public relations and event management.

The company first launched in the U.K. in 2001 and later in Nigeria in 2008. This concert will be the biggest concert Upfront & Personal has staged.

In 2014, Boko Haram kidnapped more than 300 schoolgirls in Nigeria. The schoolgirls were between the ages of 14 and 18 and attending a boarding school in northern Nigeria. Fortunately, some of the girls have been rescued, but most of the girls are still missing. Wizkid, known as the young prodigy in Afrobeats, wants to dedicate this concert for the awareness of the missing girls. Although there was media coverage within the first couple of weeks of the incident, it has not been mentioned since. Wizkid and many other participating artists want to raise awareness.
