You will love “She Loves Me,” playing at Studio 54. This musical comedy is just a good time at the theater. It has amazing performers and an amazing set and simply makes you feel uplifted. The performances are absolutely charming, and you will enjoy every moment of the show.
The cast, on-point from start to finish, includes Laura Benanti, who has a fabulous voice, Zachary Levi, Jane Krakowski, Gavin Creel, Byron Jennings, Tom McGowan, Peter Bartlett and Nicholas Barasch. Listening to everyone sing is a true delight.
This musical looks at the struggle people experience when trying to find that perfect someone. We meet Amalia and Georg who are looking for love through letter writing as part of a lonely hearts club, and who write letters that share their innermost feelings. They don’t know each other exactly, but, as would happen in the world of Broadway musicals, they end up working in the same perfume shop. Also in that shop are a cheating man, a company man, an ambitious young man, a desperate-to-find-real-love woman and a suspicious boss. I won’t say more.
This musical has an entertaining book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Hamick, choreography by Warren Carlyle and direction by Scott Ellis. The Roundabout Theatre Company is presenting the musical to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, and you’ll be glad to celebrate with them as you enjoy this marvelous musical. Go, see, enjoy!
