While most of the nation is paying attention to the presidential election, 32BJ wanted New Yorkers to remember that the presidency isn’t the only office at stake.
Last week, the union announced their endorsements for local elections involving the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly.
Some of 32BJ’s key endorsements for State Senate include Kevin Parker, Velmanette Montgomery, Jose Serrano, Bill Perkins, Jose Peralta, Leroy Comrie, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Tony Avella and Jamaal Bailey.
In the State Assembly, the union has endorsed the likes of David Weprin, Jeffrion Aubry, Michael Blake, Carl Heastie, Charles Barron and Vivian Cook.
“We’re supporting these candidates because we know they will represent the working people of their districts,” said 32BJ President Hector Figueroa in a statement. “We want to pass the DREAM Act, protect workers’ rights and win campaign finance reform and these candidates stand on the right side of these issues.”
