The New York City Emergency Management Department visited the Bronx Tuesday to discuss emergency preparedness, coordination and planning with residents.

NYC Emergency Management staff members opened a mobile office in the Foxhurst section of the Bronx and gave residents the opportunity to learn more about preparing for emergencies. Staffers from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene were also on hand to educate the public about the Zika virus.

Emergency Management teamed up with Council Member Rafael Salamanca Jr., the NYC Health Department, the Department of Environmental Protection and the FDNY for the event.

The DEP set up portable NYC Water on the Go fountains, and FDNY staffers shared information with people interested in joining the fire department.
