The New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP is set to hold its 2016 convention at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Oct. 13 through Oct. 16 in Cherry Hill, N.J.

This year’s theme for the four-day convention is “Strengthening the Bond/The Power of Unity” and will feature workshops, a job fair and a gospel concert.

The convention will open with a job fair at the Crowne Plaza on Oct. 13, followed by the “Gospel Extravaganza” on Oct. 14, featuring Hezekiah Walker. The event will also honor Bishop David Evans of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, N.J.

NAACP New York State Conference President Hazel Dukes will give the keynote address at the kickoff breakfast on Oct. 15. There will also be a forum on Black Lives Matter, and a membership luncheon, featuring a speech by radio legend and civil rights activist Joe Madison.

Later in the evening, the convention will hold its Gala Awards Banquet, with a tribute to unions. Author and professor, Marc Lamont Hill, will serve as the keynote speaker.
