With the New York Primaries one month away (Sept. 13), the largest public union in New York City announced some of its endorsements this week.
District Council 37 leaders and members are looking to move the needle in the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly races. The union has endorsed Guyana-native State Senator Roxanne Persuad for the 19th District in Brooklyn, State Senator and Puerto Rico-native Gustavo Rivera for the state’s 33rd District in the Bronx, Assemblymember Latrice Walker for the 55th District in Brooklyn and Assemblymember Victor Pichardo for the 86th District in the Bronx.
All the aforementioned candidates are Democrats.
“These candidates have solid records of accomplishment that demonstrate their dedication to their communities,” said DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido. “They share our union’s values of economic justice, and they believe that government can and should be a force to improve the lives of all New Yorkers. DC 37 volunteers will be on the phones and on the streets from now until Primary Day to ensure victory for these candidates.”
