Hopefully your sunscreen made it through the summer, and you did too. Although I continued to swear by my Australian Gold SPF 30, I sprayed myself and the family with OFF Insect Repellent from head to toe, and will continue to do so until well into the fall. To keep the summer glow, and protect my skin from all of the sun, sea and spray, I have been using Nivea Rich Intense Body Lotion to lather down after the bath or shower. Just a few of my tips I wanted to share.

Also sharing was Tina Page, currently presiding over the judicial court system in Springfield, Mass., who opened the doors to her lovely new home to friends and family. Having a wonderful time were longtime friends, Michelle and Bert Belasco, who are now residing temporarily in Nashville, Tenn.; Ann Patrick, daughter of the late Mel Patrick, who we all love and remember; sister, Patti Page; Godfrey and Peggy Murrain, who celebrated Peggy’s birthday with a scrumptious dinner; Mootsie Roach; and others just too loving to mention.

Then there was Reggie Johnson, from Philadelphia, with girlfriend Amy Golson from Washington, D.C., and my good friend Lynn Wareham, with whom we decided to start a tradition and once a year have a girl’s day on State Beach, and share a bottle of Rose, though not necessarily in that order. What better way to end the day than with a drive to Lola’s, where on this particular evening, Broadway Walk Productions was rocking the house—and I do mean rocking.

Hostess with the mostest, Regina Darby, threw an end-of-summer barbecue; when Regina calls, you run—not walk—to attend. Among those enjoying barbecue delights was Vernon Manley, who has just returned from San Sebastian, Spain, where he attended the annual jazz festival. How do you say it was out-of-sight, off-the-chain or dope in Spanish?

Meanwhile, out on the East End, Sag Harbor residents are not going to let the recent rash of hostile takeover attempts of their darling little enclave by one very rich and powerful CEO put a damper on their spirits. The parking lot end-of-season party still took place. It is so reassuring to know that all you need is a good DJ, some fried chicken and piña coladas, and you can still have a good throw down. All of the regulars were there, including Barry Stanley, Thelma and Carlton Holmes, Cheryl Chambers and James Seymour, JoAnn and Jim Skeets, Daryl and Carmen Gaye and others too far away, from here and there, to mention.

Now that it is September already (sigh!), it is back to school time. That means new school shoes, clothes, back pack, notebooks—you know the drill. A word of advice is to pick the time you visit Staples wisely because the line can go from the cash register to the back of the store, and then some. Although it is encouraging to see the youngsters eagerly preparing for the school semester, and most quite seriously, you never know whether Staples is going to have good music playing or the hokey pokey from Timbuktu on the speakers. Try to be guided accordingly.

September is also Julia’s birthday, and my little girl is turning 11. Yikes! This year she will celebrate her birthday, which just happens to land on a day when there is a half-day at school, in Central Park. We scouted out a good spot that has a park table, a few swing, and an open field where we will have sack races and tug of war, and the kids can throw water balloons at each other, but not at me (though they would probably like to). There will be a big pan of Nathans French fries, ketchup, birthday cake and endless little bottles of water. That’s it.

Although many college students are returning to school, others are seeking internships. To name just one of the many, Disney Professional Internships provide professional work experiences for college students that enable them to apply their classroom studies. The internships are paid and may include housing and/or relocation assistance.

Internship applications are accepted from January-March (for summer/fall) and from August-November (for spring). However, positions may be posted at any time during the year, so students are encouraged to check often for updates on the company website. Students may search for jobs that match their skills and work experience by logging onto the company website and entering a keyword or search by location, business, job category and/or job type. Internship lengths range from 10 weeks in the summer to year-round roles, depending on the project and location. Internships for recent graduates can range from six months to one year. Positions are offered in a wide area of interests, from administrative and business development, to creative and communications, finance and accounting, human resources, marketing and more. Internships are available at the Walt Disney World® Resort, Disneyland® Resort, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online and Walt Disney Imagineering.

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 to apply. College juniors, seniors, recent graduates or graduate students pursuing a degree in the field represented by the internship are encouraged to apply for up to three key positions that match their interests, skills and experience. To learn of more opportunities, check out the website, findinterships.com. You never know.

Until next week … kisses.
